the book is still not a book

remember when i said the book is done? it's not done. and kinkos was not being the courageous ally it's supposed to be. my scans turned out almost as bad as the Tender Nubbin to your left. and they cost twice as much as anywhere else...

last night we were laying out again. i'm still split on the artwork issue. all of a sudden, my Nubbin-based layout is making less sense, especially with Mike's series of pics of himself.

hallmarks today: freshman girl is engaged. tara is becoming a regular on buffy, just chillin with the crew like she's been there forever. today is a year officially that i've been at work.

so the bottom line is this: all week we've been running and it's going to stop. life has been like a film noir set piece of street scenes and dingy desks. no more running, gnawing on pencils and hitting the "delete" key twenty times, midnight rendezvouses on the corner of K street and Pennsylvania, the air hanging heavy with pothole steam, michael's green and orange scarf hanging on the moon.

we're hooked on the moon. it's basically the only star you can see in this city. i've been waking up and the apartment is glowing with moonlight, orange, because of the pollution, and i can feel my body reflecting it too.

i really should draw. but i don't know what and i don't know how, but i need to have some serious graphics for you people when you come to the party. right?
