walking the margin

today i am thinking about cutting my hair off.

is there any part of my body i can shed more easily? leave it like a heap on the floor and walk away, walk away, walk away. i'll change my outlook by changing my look. and the weather's cold again. i took a hiatus from writing in my journal, you'll notice how there is no trouble when it's warm outside.

now i'm cold again.

but you know i can stomach anything. sometimes i like doing that. some fo my best stories are about subject matter that doesn't deserve it. my relationships, too.

my hair is long -- longer than it's ever been, in places, at least. occasionally it gets tangledd and knotted and rather htan unravel it, i think about just declumping it with scissors or a knife. i've often thought about doing it over lunch break, in Rock Creek Park, where we all saw an egale out the window yesterday.

eagles in Washignton. that is so the kind of American dream i want when i go to bed at night. I wonder if birds could get caught in my hair. it's not *that* long but it is thick. i have hungarian hair, made for survival in the Carpathian mountains like my Hasidic ancestors, and in every friggin Dracula movie some East European chyck gets a bat caught in her hair. you know.

and i have so much stuff caught inside my head, friends and conspiracies and stories and mousetraps, that getting it out only happens 1 way. the way that makes you look a lot more like a WWF superstar once it happens.
